With things always changing in such a fast moving city, I try to keep in mind that anything can go down in a moment's notice when hitting the city streets. So when I'm on the go, I try to wear pieces comfortable enough to cruise the streets, but also elevated enough to stumble into a dope shindig if I needed to. Just the other day, I was out and about when I got a call from my friend, asking if I was in Manhattan. I happened to be doing some shopping in Midtown when she invited me to have drinks with her and a few friends at the Standard Hotel. One friend was a celebrity hair stylist, whose looks have graced the cover of magazines like Harper's Bazaar and Elle. The other was a makeup artist who's traveled the world to beat the most famous faces. Her goal was to introduce me to some well-connected people who were willing to collaborate on future projects. I was extremely anxious, and a bit nervous hoping we would all hit it off. The one thing that kept me together was that I felt really good on the outside; my outfit was LIT! So like always, I walked into the spot like I owned the joint, ordered a few drinks, and the rest is history. We had an amazing time, and I am looking forward to an insane collab in the near future.
I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite "on-the-go" looks. I was so obsessed with my custom-made Romeo Hunte Army Fatigue long jacket look that I wore it to his Spring 2018 fashion show during NYFW. I also loved the printed wax-coated Kenzo pants paired with that Zara studded leather jacket for a Fashion and Art Gallery opening. But the look I loved the most was when I was just chilling, running errands in a Balenciaga hat, Tom Ford sunglasses, Romeo Hunte cropped jacket and silk v-neck tee, Zara ripped skinny jeans and some Gucci fur slippers.
The best thing about fashion is it has evolved into this amazing and creative pool of INDIVIDUALITY. We are in a time where expressing yourself through your own personal style is more acceptable than ever before. I am so inspired by the millennials, and how passionate and comfortable they are about standing out. Because they make breaking the rules look so easy, I make it a point to always put my best foot forward. I can truly say, I feel really good when I know I look fab. I walk down the street like I own it, and that's what style is all about. Some of us do it for the attention of others, and yes it feel great to be noticed. But always remember, until you're living your life for you, your true style will never shine through. So I say, "Do you, have fun, and live the stylish way!"
